Mentoring
Over the years, CRyptonite Robotics has helped increase the size of the FIRST community by starting and mentoring other teams in the Houston area. So far two FRC teams have been founded with the help of Team 624, as well as one FLL team. The team extends its support by offering mentoring and technical support to our fellow teams. Throughout the fall several students met multiple times a week to guide Middle School students in the FLL competition. Team 624 always strives to do more for other teams and further the FIRST community.
Destination Imagination

Six members of Team 624 mentored Destination Imagination teams from Beck Junior High and Exley Elementary (both feeder schools to Cinco Ranch High School), as the DI teams' challenge this year involved creating a small robot to interact with the team members. Members of Team 624 were asked to aid the DI teams in concept design, design practicality, and implementing their ideas in a tangible and achievable manner.
FIRST Lego League
One of the team’s five-year goals was to start a FIRST Lego League team at each of Cinco Ranch High School's feeder junior highs, which has since been completed. In 2009 a team member took on the job of starting up "Team CRypton", getting a sponsorship, recruiting members and working with the principal and teacher sponsor. The year after a second team was created at Cinco Ranch Junior High, named the "CRyptoCoyotes". In a continuous effort to promote science and technology throughout our district a third FLL team has been created at Beck Junior High, called the "CRyptoBots". Through FLL students are taught important engineering concepts as well as research and presentation skills. In addition they are quickly hooked on the FIRST experience and look forward to joining CRyptonite when they reach high school.
In previous years Team 624 started and mentored Cy-Springs Team 2276 and Morton Ranch Team 2882.
