Drivetrain

The drivetrain is responsible for the movement of the robot. The drive train is made up of wheels, motors, chains, and gears that all work together to power the robot. FIRST Team 624 is using an eight-wheel tank drive for the 2012 robot. In the past the team has used DeWalt drill transmissions to provide power to the bot, but this year the team is experimenting with AndyMark Super Shifters. The Super Shifters provide more power to the robot, and gives the drivers more control when maneuvering the robot.

Every year the team repurposes Dewalt drills into the motors that the team uses on the robot. Click HERE for a step by step tutorial.
